Welcome to the home page for The Nuns Under 10s rugby team.

The coaching team have successfully trained a group of young players for several years now. Teamwork and friendship are the foundations of the team as they continue to develop their rugby skills. The team welcome new players at anytime during the season and continue to provide an inclusive environment for enthusiastic kids that want to play the game.

At Under 10s, we begin to introduce a few more elements of the adult game into matches. In addition to bigger pitches and more players, we see uncontested scrums, rucks and mauls all become part of the ‘the game’.

The basics of the Under 10s Rules of Play are:

• Maximum of 8 players on each team
• Maximum pitch size is 60 metres x 35 metres
• Size: 4 ball
• Maximum time for each half is 15 minutes
• Uncontested scrums – the nearest 3 players enter the a scrum
• Introduction of Maul
• Introduction of Ruck
• No kicking allowed

The introduction of these new elements of the game provides an opportunity for all players to learn how to be involved. Rugby is a late specialisation sport, so all players are encouraged to take part in all areas of the game.
