The Nuns host early season table toppers Syston this weekend in a tough looking fixture on the back of a defeat at Banbury last week. After successive defeats the challenge looks no easier as Syston remain the only undefeated side in the league with 5 wins and a draw so far including a 71-15 last weekend over Silhillians.
The Nuns know that they have areas to improve on but also have strengths to their game to challenge all sides and they are one of two sides who have scored four tries in every game so far which has seen them pick up 6 try bonus points. Against Banbury last week, the set piece went well again but there were some individual and tactical errors which allowed Banbury scores at crucial points which eventually took the game away from them.
The Saxons travel to Lichfield in their league game. Although well defeated last time out against Syston, 78-14, it was a game that highlighted a few areas. Their set piece and at times continuity of play was good but Syston showed greater cutting edge and cohesion as a team. Lichfield conceded their game to Bedworth last week and have a record of 3 wins and 3 losses from 6 games. The Saxons have played 5 with 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats so far.
The Saracens don’t have a game this weekend, their friendly with Manor Park last week was called off early due to a serious injury to a Manor Park player. We wish him a full and speedy recovery.
The Colts travel to Daventry in the league, last Friday night they defeated Keresley RFC 35-0.
Team news: there are a couple of changes to the pack with Tom Aherne swapping back in to the second row to captain the side with James Moreton and Ben Cornwall, on loan from Leicester Lions, comes into the back row with Rudi Reid unavailable.
In the backline Aaron Esiri, who has joined on loan from Hinckley, starts on the wing in place of Travis Bennett-Allcock who is away with the rest unchanged from last week.
On the bench are Ryan Marsh, James Moreton and Lucas Brindley.
