Nuneaton RFC recognises that there is a big difference between Junior rugby and taking that step into the Colts team, or even further and joining senior rugby. So to assist their younger players they have now produced the Nuneaton RFC Academy.
The Academy will meet every Tuesday, Junior Academy (U15's & U16's) every 1st and 3rd Tuesday, and Senior Academy (U18's) every 2nd and 4th Tuesday, to work to develop skills and game knowledge.
Not only will this support our young players to reach their own goals, but it will also support the development of our own senior teams, making way to harness more homegrown talent.
The academy coaches are keen to work on, individual goal setting, conditioning, skill development, and leadership skills. Whilst also supporting our young players with mental health and reaching their full potential.
John Beart heads up the Academy,
John started his rugby career with the Nuneaton RFC Mini and Juniors at the age of 7 and continued to play at the club until he reached senior rugby at the age of 18.
John joined the Army at the age of 16 and continued to play rugby worldwide. He went on to represent the Army against the Navy at Twickenham.
John spent two seasons playing at Bath RFC, and various other clubs before coming back to Nuneaton RFC during the 2005/06 season, assisting them to gain promotion to National League 2.
Whilst continuing to play rugby, John began his coaching career, coaching rugby 7’s, York University, the Army teams, Leicester Tigers community and global partnerships. During his time over seas he even coached the Brunei National team.
John came back to the midlands in 2018 when he first looked to establish the Nuneaton RFC Academy, after the club had a number of seasons of not having a Colts team.
Johns philosophy is person before player, engaging with the people first and finding out what makes them tick. Then getting the best out of them in a rugby context. Having worked in elite operational teams worldwide, John enjoy looking for the 1% marginal gains everywhere to make progress and develop young players.
